Tyra Watts is a Journalist and Digital Content Creator in the New York Metropolitan Area. With a background in journalism, digital media production, and content creation, Tyra provides the ability to report the facts through compelling narratives and multimedia elements, whilst being personal and authentic to engage audiences. Her background includes writing and reporting on pop culture, news, and entertainment. She also creates lifestyle, beauty, and fashion content. Tyra is a creative professional who doesn’t fit into one niche and uses that to her advantage.

Tyra earned her Bachelor’s in journalism and a minor in psychology at Kean University, where she served as a staff writer, news editor, and later editor-in-chief of Kean’s newspaper, The Tower. There, she developed and assigned story ideas to staff writers and editors regarding the latest news in the Kean community. In addition to editing, proofreading, and fact-checking articles, Tyra also reported on various topics within the Kean community, from hard news to celebrity profiles of Tabitha Brown, Flo Milli, Jasmine Guy, and Darryl M. Bell.

While running The Tower, Tyra was the Director of Public Relations for Kean University’s Pan-African Student Union. She managed the union’s social media accounts to promote events and weekly meetings for current and prospective members. She also curated a content calendar schedule as the primary method to communicate the union’s operations and branding.

Tyra is an established Digital Content Creator, known as theelifeoftyra on all social media platforms. What started as her making content in her spare time for fun became a commitment and an outlet for Tyra to express her creativity. Tyra has worked on two ad campaigns with JustFactsNJ and Incorruptible.Us regarding the dangers of drugs and tobacco.

Backed by her experience, Tyra is devoted to growing as a professional Journalist and Digital Content Creator. She is a passionate professional who is in it for the long run and wants her message to be heard by many through her posts and videos.
